As seasons change, thick fog and clouds often cover the plains near the mountains. We originally set off to photograph Garden of the Gods but the cloud layer was just too thick. We decided to head off to the mountains and see what things looked like up there. The temperature dropped quickly and near where the clouds started to break off, we experiences some of my most favorite weather phenomenon, hoar frost (an old English term that describes the look of white hair or a fuzzy white beard). Hear the water vapor in the clouds freezes quickly on the surface of most of the trees and remaining leaves. As the clouds blow across the forest, a white layer forms creating a fairyland look.
